Safe & natural chest rub balm in Australia

Family friendly chest rub balm offers safe option for congested airways

, by AussiePharmaDirect, 2 min reading time

When you or your child have a cold or flu, it’s natural to reach for a decongestant chest rub balm, but if you recently bought some Vicks VapoRub or Vicks VapoRub Xtra Strong, then you might want to take a closer look at the label.

Authorities are urgently recalling one batch of Vicks VapoRub Xtra Strong 100g because the jar has been incorrectly labelled as Vicks VapoRub ointment 100g when it contains the Xtra Strong formula.

The recalled jars of Vicks VapoRub Xtra Strong 100g have a use by date of July 1, 2024, and the batch number is 222605.

Product Safety Australia has warned that using the mislabelled product could be dangerous for some people. The unintended use of Vicks VapoRub Xtra Strong ointment may cause allergic reactions such as blisters, itching, swelling, rash, hives and skin peeling in some consumers.

And children aged six to 10 who use the product via steam inhalation could experience rapid heartbeat, nausea, dizziness, eye irritation and headache.

A natural, safe alternative baby vapour rub

Daniel Seldon from Aussie Pharma Direct says there’s an alternative way to relieve congested airways.

“The 123 Nourish Me Chesty Rub Balm that we stock is a safe, organic vapour rub for babies aged 6 months+ and adults,” he says. “It contains pure, organic Australian made ingredients with naturally occurring antiviral and anti-bacterial properties, and the highest quality organic essential oils and pure and natural decongestants to clear and calm breathing passages.

Chesty Rub also has the benefit of being free of petroleum and turpentine and contains no sulphates, mineral oil, parabens, artificial fragrances and colours. We all obviously want to do the best for our families, especially when they aren’t feeling well, so it’s good to know there is a completely natural and effective calming chest balm that is safe for all the family to use.”

How to use the Chest Rub Balm

To comfort and calm little (and not so little) people, warm the balm on your fingertips and gently apply to the chest, back and feet.
