    Directions for use

    Putting on the respirator

    1. Inspect respirator before each use to ensure that it is in good operating condition. Examine all the respirator parts for signs of damage including the two headbands, staples, nose foam, nose clip and facepiece material. The respirator should be disposed of immediately upon observation of damaged or missing parts.
    2. Remove respirator from packaging and hold with straps facing upward. Place the bottom strap under the centre flaps next to the “ATTENTION” statement.
    3. Fully open top and bottom panels, bending nosepiece around thumb at centre of foam. Straps should separate when panels are opened. Make certain bottom panel is unfolded and completely opened.
    4. Place respirator on your face so that the foam rests on your nose and the bottom panel is open under chin. Pull the top strap over your head and position it high on the back of the head. Then pull the bottom strap over your head and position it around the neck and below the ears. Adjust for a comfortable fit by pulling top panel toward the bridge of the nose and bottom panel under chin.
    5. Place your fingertips from both hands at the top of the metal nosepiece. Using two hands, mold the nose area to the shape of your nose by pushing inward while moving your fingertips down both sides of the nosepiece.
    6. Perform a User Seal Check. To check the respirator-to-face seal, cover the middle panel with one or both hands. Inhale and exhale sharply. Be careful not to disturb the position of the respirator. If air leaks around the nose, re-adjust the nosepiece as described in Step 4. If air leaks around respirator edges, adjust panels and
position of straps and make certain respirator edges fit snugly against the face.

    Removing the respirator

    1. Without touching the respirator facepiece, slowly lift the bottom strap from around your neck up and over your head.
    2. Then lift off the top strap.
    3. Store or discard according to your facility’s infection control policy. Dispose of used product in accordance with applicable regulations.

    Storage

Before use, store respirators in the original packaging, away from contaminated areas, dust, sunlight, extreme temperatures, excessive moisture, and damaging chemicals. When stored in original packaging between temperatures
from -4°F (-20°C) to +86°F (+30°C) and not exceeding 80% RH, the product may be used until the date specified on packaging located next to the “Use by Date” symbol.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can these respirators effectively reduce eyewear fogging, and how does the embossed top panel help achieve this?

Yes, the 3M™ Aura™ 1800+ Series Healthcare Particulate Respirators are designed to effectively reduce eyewear fogging. The embossed top panel of these respirators plays a key role in achieving this by directing exhaled air away from the nose panel, which helps minimise moisture buildup and fogging on eyewear.

How does the individual packaging of these respirators help protect them from contamination?

Individual packaging prevents cross-contamination between respirators. Each respirator is sealed in its own packaging, preventing contact with other respirators and reducing the risk of contamination during storage and handling.

Are these respirators fluid-resistant, and to what extent can they reduce exposure to blood and body fluids?

Yes, the 3M™ Aura™ 1800+ Series Healthcare Particulate Respirators are fluid-resistant, offering a high level of protection against exposure to blood and body fluids. These respirators provide the highest level of fluid resistance according to ASTM F1862 at 160 mm Hg, indicating their ability to withstand the penetration of fluids under high-pressure conditions.
